Advent Calendar Activities

We had a lot of fun doing an advent calendar over the holidays. Here are some pictures of some of the things we did each day...

Watch a Christmas movie in our pjs.  Jack chose How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Write a letter to Santa.

Watching the Scrooge puppet show at North Park.

Go see the Trains at North Park.

Checking out Santa's sleigh by the duck pond.

And of course you have to climb and slide down the sloped wall!

Make hot chocolate and watch a Christmas movie.

Make a Christmas craft.  We made a Rudolph and Jack informed me he had to tell him a secret.  Ha!

School Christmas Party

I'm so lucky to work close to Jack's school. I have been able to go to most every party and special event he has had. His class had a Christmas pizza party right before the holidays, and Jack had a great time!

Prayer time before they eat...

Yum!

Jack and his friend Olivia.

Silly boy!

Jack and his friend Rainey.  He loves his friends from school!

All that playtime can make a guy hungry for some fruit!

North Pole Express

About a week before Christmas, we surprised Jack with a trip to Grapevine to ride the North Pole Express. The kids were invited to wear their Christmas pajamas, ride the train, and meet Santa. We invited Mamaw and Page to go with us, and we all had so much fun!

We got there about an hour early, and there was fun stuff set up for the kids to do.  They had a big fenced in area filled with ride on toys, tricycles, etc.  Jack loved riding on this little Thomas train.

Our train.

Jack watched the blacksmith in action.

He made Jack a tiny little cowboy hat that he then tried to wear on his head.

Walking through the Christmas tree maze to board the train...

Trying to get a peek of Santa.

There he is!

A high five for Santa!

Santa gave Jack a bell which he wore around his neck for days afterwards.

Jack had fun riding with Page.

Enjoying some hot chocolate after our ride to the North Pole.

It was such a fun and memorable night!  I hope it becomes one of our Christmas traditions.
